Beginning January 1, 2022, the No Surprises Act (NSA) also known as the No Surprise Bill Act, protects consumers from unexpected billing if the patient participates in a group health plan or group or individual health insurance coverage. The Act specifically protects consumers against surprise bills for emergency services from an out-of-network provider or facility without prior authorization.
